If you believe you have been exposed to HIV within the last 72 hours it is recommended that you seek out PEP or Post-Exposure Prophylaxis.

PEP should be started as soon as possible, ideally within a few hours after the potential exposure.

If it is not started within 72 hours (3 days) of exposure to HIV it is likely that the drug will be ineffective.
